The important thing the reader wants is easy-to-understand communication from the web. Text and slideshows (and video) are great because everyone has the the tools. If everyone had 3D glasses you could do 3D slide-shows and video! Can voice-recognition software be used to get feedback from the reader and thru it into text? The internet didn't have graphics or audio originally, but it does now! Why? Because it's more like real-life speaking one-to-one with the reporter.
